Norm and Phyllis Brunn Following the devastating tornado that destroyed so many homes in Fridley and Mounds View in 1965, Norm Brunn decided to break off from the company he had been working for and started his own construction and remodeling business with his wife, Phyllis, who managed their home office.

Norm and Phyllis were blessed with four sons and, as Wayne Brunn so aptly puts it, "Dad knew he had a cheap supply of labor coming up." It was true. All four boys worked in the business and learned on the job from the time they were eight years old. From sweeping floors to hanging cabinets, Norm taught his children every aspect of building and running the business.

In 1987, Brunn Construction moved out of the house and into an office warehouse in New Brighton, where they worked with their sons until the redevelopment of the downtown area in 2001 led them to Blaine where the office remains today.

Norm and the Boys Norm and Phyllis turned over their successful home building and remodeling businesses in 1992 to three of their sons: Chip, Wayne and Bill. Along with it, came an abundance of knowledge, integrity and personalized service instilled by their parents. Growing up near the end of the depression, Norm and Phyllis taught their sons more than the ins and outs of running a building business. They taught them the importance of community, how to be fair and how to stretch a dollar — core values that are practiced by all of the brothers today.

To separate new home construction from remodeling, Brunn Remodeling was born in 1998 with Bill Brunn as president and Chip Brunn as vice president in charge of field operations. Norm and the Boys Since then, Brunn Remodeling has helped homeowners like you add space, beauty and value to the homes you love. We know how attached people get to their houses, to their neighborhoods and to their communities. We also know that needs change, designs get tired and new trends are born. Brunn Remodeling builds on the imaginations of individuals and families.

Brunn Remodeling has enjoyed a long history of successful projects in Blaine, Mounds View, New Brighton, Arden Hills, Shoreview, Roseville, Vadnais heights, North Oaks, White Bear Lake, Fridley, Lino Lakes and Ham Lake, to name a few.

Does Remodeling Your Home Make Sense?

While some remodeling contractors simply take orders, we want you to know that Brunn Remodeling takes a more consultative approach to make sure the project you are considering will add value and quality of life to your home while staying within your budget. To help you understand how we work, we'd like to share our 5-step process:

Initial Consultation. We listen to your needs and share our thoughts and ideas to determine if the project is viable, if it matches your dreams and if it is within your budget. This is the perfect opportunity to discuss financing options and we can even recommend preferred lenders.
Existing Home Plans. If you have your home's original construction drawings and survey, that's a wonderful place to start. If not, we may need to create an as-built plan to begin our design process.

Second Consultation—Preliminary Investment Worksheet. We like to meet with all of your projects' decision makers, so we get everyone's input during the design stage. It ensures that everyone is in agreement on the scope and design. At this stage, we will create a personalized Investment Worksheet that lists your needs, wants and wishes to verify that we are within your desired investment range. We'll also review the design ideas and plans to make sure they fit your family's lifestyle.
Third Consultation—Plan Design/Deposit. With your approval of the preliminary investment worksheet, we're ready to put your design to paper. Then comes the exciting, interactive part — selecting features and products that go into the finished project. During this stage, we'll create the most complete and accurate budget, so you know exactly what goes into your project.
Fourth Consultation—Construction Paperwork. We're ready to get started, are you? All you have to do is authorize the work, and we'll begin the transformation.

Meet the Brunn Team

Bill Brunn is president of Brunn Remodeling. He works closely with Andy Brunn on your remodeling proposal and with you as your project progresses. He is a member of the Remodelers Council of the Twin Cities, Better Business Bureau and North Metro Chamber of Commerce. Bill and his family live in Lino Lakes where they are active in Centennial Hockey and other sports associations. His three children keep him involved in the community, but he also enjoys getting away to fish and hunt.

Chip Brunn is field supervisor for both Brunn Remodeling and Brunn Construction and is available on job sites to answer your questions and coordinate subcontractor schedules. A true perfectionist, Chip lives by the adage, "It will be done as well on this house as I would do on my own." He and his family live in Mounds View, where he is a Vikings' armchair quarterback. He also enjoys golf and fishing.

LuAnn Brunn is our in-house selection coordinator. She works with you on product selections and accompanies you to various showrooms to help you choose cabinets, trim, hardware, lighting, flooring, ceramic tile and fixtures. LuAnn has long-established relationships with local suppliers and the knowledge and talent to make your home a work of art.

Andy Brunn, a nephew of Chip, Wayne and Bill, manages sales for the remodeling division. He draws up plans as you share your dreams and desires and transforms your ideas into three-dimensional drawings. Andy is present on every project and communicates with you on a regular basis. He, Bill and Chip are the foundation of Brunn’s remodeling team as they work together to make your dream a reality.

Carmen Schmitz is Brunn's office manager. She oversees daily operations and maintains general bookkeeping activities for the company. Carmen lives in Circle Pines with her husband and four children where she is very involved in community events. Her extensive background in both construction and business makes her knowledgeable about every aspect of remodeling.

Wayne Brunn is president of Brunn Construction. He holds an Associate of Arts Degree in Architecture and works one-on-one with you to design and convert your dreams to reality. As president of Brunn Construction Company, Inc., the New Home Division, Wayne is a member of the Builders Association of the Twin Cities and the National Association of Home Builders. He has also received certification for Minnesota Green Star and is a Certified Aging in Place Specialist. Wayne is a licensed MN Realtor with Re/Max Associates Plus and past-president of the Remodeler's Council of the Twin Cities. A Shoreview resident, Wayne and his wife, Mary, have raised two daughters who are their pride and joy. His pastimes include hunting and fishing.
